CLYDESDALE EXPERIENCE

Below a message (and accompanying impressions) from Mirthe (April 2023):

Report of my internship with Ingrid.

I thought it was a very instructive internship, I was able to do a lot. We worked well together. And of course also learned a lot of things. The most important thing I learned is that you should always put on a cap, (which I didn't believe at first) no matter what horse.

Thank you very much for letting me do an internship with you.

Greetings, Mirthe

Message from Caroline Schouten (January 2023):

"We've been looking forward to it for a long time and today she finally arrived. Our new Clydesdale friend Sandy from Scotland arrived this afternoon at Buitenleven. I fell in love with this fantastic breed two years ago. Lucy Lou then came to us through the great intermediation of Ingrid van Coudorp Clydesdales. Once again we found our sweet Sandy through her help. Thank you Ingrid!"

Today (January 8, 2023) I had a very special visitor for the clydesdale experience. The talented bagpipe player Victor wanted to take some pictures of him with the clydesdales. His play was most enjoyable for me and the horses. Below are some photos and two videos:

Recently Carolina and Maarten came from Belgium to meet the Clydesdales, as a present for Carolina. She is a horse vet in a clinic in Belgium and wanted to meet her favorite breed.

Photos below:

It was another great day, with the regular Clydesdale fans, Marjon, Deirdre en Cayleigh. They were here again for the Clydesdales experience and lunch.

Below is the story of horse Jayne, who did not come from Scotland, but from Switzerland to her new owner in the Netherlands.

"More than 2 years ago there was the wish of my daughter and me to own a horse. Via via an older mare was bought which turned out to be a Clydesdale. We were very aware of the characteristics of this breed we didn't, but along the way we fell in love not only with our mare Sammy, but also with the breed! But unfortunately we received the bad news last summer that she had serious osteoarthritis in her legs, riding was no longer an option…there went our dream.. Very soon it was decided to let her enjoy her old age and we still love her, but in a different way!But blood creeps where it can't go, and a horse that could be ridden was a big wish. We had already heard from Ingrid van Coudorp Clydesdales via Facebook, my husband did not let grass grow on it and called immediately. A few days later we were allowed to come by to meet her and her horses. Or we could read each other, felt really good! The trust was there and she was happy to search and mediate for us. Our wishes were listened to very extensively and asked. Then the long wait started, or so we thought, 4 days later already a phone call that she knew a stallion for us in England! After much deliberation, it came a little too quickly for us and we came to the conclusion that we had to adjust our wish list slightly, but also that it all went just a little too fast, your own horse with a condition that can't be helped and then have to make a quick decision about a young stallion… all within a month! We would leave it that way for the time being and agreed with Ingrid that we would let it rest for a while.

A few weeks later I got a sweet text from Ingrid, she knew we weren't really looking anymore, but she had come across a mare that seemed perfect for us... It turned out to be Jayne at a Clydesdale/Shire crossing. She was in Switzerland. Ingrid herself first had close contact with the then current owner, and pointed out things to us to ask and look at ourselves. It was a must for me to go to Switzerland to see if there would be a click with the horse, that we could only go 5 weeks later was no problem at all for the owner, that was very nice! Finally it was time to go and see her, my daughter was so nervous!! And Ingrid was curious and how she sympathized with us! But as Ingrid had foreseen, the feeling was good and she suited us perfectly. A beautiful, sweet, social and calm animal. There we had plenty of time to pet, brush and ride her and no question was too crazy or too difficult. A week later Jayne was put on transport to the Netherlands and we have been waiting so anxiously, partly because the transport went slightly different than expected (I'll leave it at that) and in the middle of the night the time had come, there was she! And despite the fact that our Sammy likes peace and aloofness, there was equal interest in Jayne and acceptance. The ladies stand next to each other in the stable and the next day together without any problems in the arena and finally in the paddock. Due to circumstances, Ingrid was only able to come and see our newest addition a few weeks later, which was very much appreciated by us, the compassion and interest. Dear Ingrid, thank you again, you are a treasure your help, interest and guidance in purchasing Jayne is very much appreciated by us! Love Arena and Mirre"

In 2021 Deidre and Marjon came a day before the Clydesdale Experience!, to really get in touch with this fantastic breed. Deidre comes from a Scottish farm in Toward by Dunoon where they used to work with Clydesdales from "John Mundell and Sons on Towards Farm" Her dream was to ride a Clydesdale bareback, and nice cats, to get to know the breed. And that worked out well!! Kelly, Blossom and us, what a great day we all had!!

Photos and video below:

Recently Ingrid started looking for the dream horse for Lieke with great pleasure. And it worked out nicely. Below is her story:

"When we decided to buy an additional horse, we immediately thought of a Clydesdale. With great pleasure we started looking for the dream horse for Lieke. And it worked out nicely. a cool horse, but Clydesdales have that little bit more, they look powerful yet graceful, and when we started reading more about them, their characters turned out to be really nice too. Via the internet we came across Ingrid who was able to tell us a lot about the breed and has many contacts in Scotland, and she could also help us arrange the import of a horse, which was great! we first received some photos of foals, one even nicer than the other, but we decided to go for a slightly older one, between 2 and 4 years and preferably a brown mare. We were lucky because Ingrid informed us that we it next weekend could expect pictures of a 2-year-old mare. I was a bit skeptical because yes, it had to be a horse that would immediately appeal to us. But we saw the pictures and were very pleasantly surprised! A very well-built horse with a beautiful head! After watching some movies we took the plunge and decided to buy her. After a little over a month, the truck with 'Melody', which we now call Beau, was in our driveway. The first look at her when she got out of the truck was immediately very positive! She indeed had just as nice a look as in the photos and videos. Her gaits, which we had not yet seen extensively, were beyond expectations. We are still very happy with Beau. She is very well raised, has a nice character, is sweet, smart and affectionate."

Below is the story of a Dutch family that, thanks to Ingrid's mediation, has acquired a Scottish family member.

Hooge Zwaluwe May 16, 2021,
Like almost every girl, I also dreamed of having my own horse one day. As a little girl I wanted a Friesian, beautiful horses are that.
About a year and a half ago, we were given the opportunity to look for our own horse. It soon became apparent that the character of a Frisian did not suit me, a Tinker would be more suitable. After some research into the Tinker breed, it turned out that this was not quite suitable for us either. Then Richard came up with a photo of a Clydesdale, after having looked into the character of this breed a bit further, we found this character to suit us very well. We started looking for someone who could advise us on the Clydesdales and where best to buy a Clydesdale. We soon got in touch with Ingrid.
Ingrid talked about the character and how well Clydesdales do with children, we have 2 daughters of our own aged 7 and 10. The conversation with Ingrid convinced us.
This is where the adventure for a suitable horse began. Ingrid had quickly found a Clyde in Scotland, but this did not go well, it all had to be done very quickly. Too soon so we didn't have a good feeling about it, this sale did not go through. Ingrid soon found another Clyde, “Poppy” after seeing some pictures, we got more and more excited and decided we want Poppy. Not yet knowing what to expect, we bought Poppy in early December 2020. We just didn't have the opportunity to receive her in December. No stable space yet and a planned vacation was the reason we couldn't welcome Poppy (we call her Gipsey) until January. Together with Ingrid we went looking for a transporter who could bring Gipsey to the Netherlands. It went very difficult, in the meantime Brexit had become a fact and it was not very clear what had to be done now. In the end we went into business with a carrier who could arrange the necessary paperwork for us and arrange customs clearance. We instructed them to set everything in motion, but there was silence and it was difficult to make contact. (It turned out later that that carrier was involved in a company takeover) It took too long before we got in touch, so we started looking for another carrier. We found a perfect carrier in Parker. In the meantime it was already mid-January and finally Gipsey was picked up by Parker at the end of January early February from Dillars Clydesdales in Scotland and Gipsey's world tour began. After a few days, she arrived at Parker's stables, where she stayed for a little over a week, before taking the truck to Calais by truck via Dover. From there she came to the Netherlands via Belgium. In the Netherlands she had to stay another night to get the customs papers in order. Gipsey arrived on February 16, 2021 at our stable Dudok in Hooge Zwaluwe. After being patient for a long time, we could finally hold Gipsey in our arms. At Dudok Gipsey was quarantined for 2 weeks to rule out any health problems and now she has her own stable and she is in the paddock every day, and recently every day in the meadow with fresh grass. She is doing very well and turned 3 on May 6. She is really a very nice Clydesdale, we are very happy with her every day! We are therefore very grateful to Ingrid that she has embarked on this sometimes impossible adventure with us.

Recently, thanks to Ingrid's mediation, another Clydesdale came to the Netherlands from Scotland (Scottish Borders). This was Doura Jester, a half-brother of Coudorp Barra. New owner Richard van Hees wrote about this:

"Doura Jester in the house!
It needs no further explanation that 2020 is a special year. Online shopping, education and buying a horse... Ever since our Clydesdale mare, we have been very charmed by the character and physical characteristics of this niche horse breed in the Netherlands. When we decided to look for a second family horse, it was already clear that this would again be a Clydesdale. The Dutch stable where our mare came from did not have a “match” at that time; too small, too young etc.. Unfortunately also with the honest message that the supply of learned Clydesdales is very limited. The plans went on hold for us and we said to each other that we were in no rush. Patiently waiting for the right horse to arrive. Because the thought did not let us go completely, we gave a search to the World Wide Web with the keywords “Clydesdale” and “The Netherlands”. The name Coudorp Clydesdales came to the fore and actually also in a province we love, namely Zeeland. Somewhat surprised and pleasantly surprised, we started reading the stories and images on the site. Under the motto "if it doesn't help, it doesn't hurt", I picked up the old-fashioned telephone and contacted them. Although I called out of the blue, Ingrid took the time and asked the right questions, talked about her own experiences and came up with a fair proposal. Again with the clear message that the search could take a long time. Satisfied with this little bright spot, the twist in the conversation was that Ingrid might know a suitable horse like a bolt from the blue. That same afternoon we already had pictures of a Strawberry roan Clydesdale hold, stabled in Scotland! The first images, age, experience, build and size fit the picture. But well, traveling to England not done..now what? At that time, Ingrid and us sent a whole package of questions to the owner, with respect for the buyer and seller. Despite her busy personal life, the saleswoman was also very involved, committed and willing, which is really a must in this setup. Now the experience and mediation of Ingrid and her contacts in England came into play and an appointment for an English vet and transporter was quickly made. Both the vet and the transporter were very quick in their responses to questions or uncertainties. Business, flexible and professional, yet personal and in the interest of the horse. After the financial transactions had been completed, the journey could begin. Before the final departure, Ingrid asked the saleswoman to write a kind of "manual" for Jester and some of the usual hard food. We had also stipulated the trusted bit with the purchase. And then, the journey. On Ingrid's advice, a combined transport was chosen over the relatively expensive individual transport. The horses apparently thrive better when they travel with congeners. A long 5 days including a stopover in a quarantine stable (not for COVID 19) and a visit from a vet for a final check. During the trip, photos and a brief travel report were sent by the drivers on request. The day before arrival the definitive day and time frame was passed on and half an hour before arrival I was greeted nicely by one of the drivers. Jester was neatly delivered and placed in his new stable with a gentle hand. Despite his fatigue from the journey, Jester stood looking around with enthusiasm and curiosity. The children, ourselves and the other horses were greeted gently and openly, with no fear of man or animal. These are real hallmarks for Jester and perhaps the Clydesdale in general. Despite his youthful inexperience, he goes everywhere without reservations. In the week of his arrival, I rode him and my 12-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter under saddle. He amazed us then and now time and again with his gentleness, willingness and eagerness to learn. Looking back on this adventure, we certainly do not regret it and are grateful to Ingrid for her efforts and dedication. Seeing and feeling a horse/pony before buying is always our preference, but thanks in part to Coudorp Clydesdales/Ingrid, this has been a very successful and pleasant transaction with a fantastic horse in the stable as the end result!
P.S. He drives the most pleasantly to the left, but this is probably due to his English origin."

Below the pictures of Doura Jester:

This autumn (2020) Ingrid was once again able to mediate in the purchase of Esmee Bosschieter's dream horse. Esmee wrote the following piece about this:

"In July I took the plunge and emailed Ingrid asking if she wanted to help me with the search for my buddy for life. I have been taking care of my grooming horse with love and pleasure for 8 years, but now it was time to find a buddy This had to be a Clydesdale, what a great breed. Because of all the positive reactions on the cold-blooded facebook pages and on the site, I contacted Ingrid. Ingrid was immediately very positive and enthusiastic. In addition to all the explanations, the search had to work I was also very welcome to come and see her great friends. I was warned, the search could take longer, there were not many for sale. And my patience was certainly tested. Ingrid has had a lot of contact with Scotland and me I've been sent a lot of Clydesdales, Ingrid and I were almost afraid it wouldn't work And then!!! Ingrid sent a picture of handsome Dillars Envoy, she herself also had to recover from the in formation. I already knew about that photo. That is what I asked for more information and videos via Ingrid, and received it the 2 days after. But both me and my environment already knew, THIS IS M!! And then it gets exciting. What do you have to arrange, how does it really work. Luckily Ingrid was there to help with everything. Without her this would not have been possible. After 4 weeks I was finally allowed to meet him in real life, at home in the stable. It was brought with love by the transport company. And the click was there immediately. He has now been here for 5 weeks, but it feels like years! What a topper it is. He's going to show his naughty self now, hahaah, sometimes I can't stop laughing. He is such a sweet cuddle hen!!! Everyone loves him, but let's be honest, there's no other way!! I am grateful to Ingrid for finding my buddy for life! For all the help but also for the patience Ingrid needed with me".

Below are some impressions of Esmee and Envoy:

This spring Ingrid was able to mediate for Martine van Valkenburg from Friesland for the purchase of a Clydesdale in Scotland. Martine wrote the following about this:

"The Quest for a Family Horse

We were looking for a horse with many possibilities for our family. Our family consists of a couple with 2 girls aged 8 and 5. Because of this we came to the conclusion that it had to be a cold blooded and as it now appeared the Clydesdale met many of the options we were looking for. After a few months of looking around on sales sites, we still didn't come across the horse we were looking for. On April 28, I took the plunge and sent an email to Ingrid. We received a warm email back with an invitation to meet her Clydesdales, but due to corona and the distance, this was not going to work. Moments later, Ingrid had found a solution. Near us is a Clydesdale of friends of hers. We went to see this horse. Because we were not familiar with this breed and there is not much information about it, but Ingrid was able to answer all our questions. This really convinced us that a Clydesdale could be an ideal horse for us. On May 15, I received a photo of Ingrid. I immediately warmed to this horse. Later we received videos from him and I already fell in love with him. But the downside was he stood in Scotland, this is not around the door. We would like to see it for sale in reality, but this was not possible either. Because we couldn't see him in real life, we found it difficult to make the decision. But because of Ingrid's knowledge and experience, we dared it anyway, and this choice was the right one. The purchase of our horse and the transport went very smoothly by Ingrid. June 10 he (Max) arrived with us. Neatly taken care of by a good carrier. After his transport we put Max in the stable for an hour to recover. Then he went into the pasture with the herd. This herd consists of 9 geldings. He was immediately well accepted into the herd. The next day when I went to fetch him from the meadow, he came trotting towards me, whinnying. This was a very special moment, I had not expected this at all. We could do everything with him right away. After a few days, our children were already able to interact with him. Max has a super good character. Is very laid back but not lazy. And he enjoys it when you are with him. The tension prevailed at first, because we were not well acquainted with these horses and because he comes from abroad. But this is a really good choice that we made."

Below some pictures of Max:

On May 22, Mirjam and her daughter Noortje from Ulvenhout came to meet us with the breed. We received the following nice piece from them:

"To get to know Ingrid and David and their Clydesdales, we went to Nieuwdorp in these special times. We were already excited to come, and after coordination about the timing and appropriate measures, we were all confident. then after disinfection in a large circle with Ingrid and David in the stable: next to us a pregnant Islay who cuddled with Ingrid and dozed and allowed herself to be looked at calmly.Ingrid and Islay then led us to the meadow and the others.

We greeted the 'older ladies' and the youngest member of Harris with a smile. They came right up to us, attentive and alert, then trotted and frolicked along. Flying manes and tails and socks, and wonderful energy. So we stepped into the meadow towards stallion Barra, to greet him too. Relaxation and action in one.

We noticed that these Clydesdales have a positive basic attitude, are present, make contact and at the same time radiate tranquility - and the cheerful and light markings reinforce that positive feeling. By the way, Harris added a bit of yearling energy to that, and we had to smile a lot about that.

We talked to each other about the characters, the association, about groundwork, driving and driving, the feed, breeding, about the Scottish experiences, etc. We told ourselves about our tinker, who we have close to home, and what he experienced and us with him, how we deal with him, etc. Actually it seemed similar. A Clydesdale buddy wouldn't look out of place?! A treat in these times was the cup of tea with goodies under the tree, again in a wide circle. And the best part of this treat: along with a view of the Coudorp Clydesdales. Many thanks to Ingrid and David,

Hope to see you again,

Noortje and Mirjam"

On Tuesday 25 February the time had come. Luna was picked up by the new proud owner Roanna. She wrote the following about her experience:

"I had been looking for my own buddy for a while, after a lot of searching and research I came across Coudorp Clydesdales. At the first contact it immediately felt good, they are very warm and cordial people. They spoke with a lot of passion and love about the breed and their own horses. On January 28 I came to see the breed for the first time. That was a day I will not soon forget, on that day I also came into contact with Luna. And she was so beautiful! 2 weeks later it happened again and I went back, mainly to see if I still had a click with Luna, and the feeling was indescribable! only found my buddy, but also the love of my life!I don't know many people who care for their horses with so much love.To them, a horse is not just a horse, and that was so beautiful to see!!

Dear Ingrid and David,
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done for me. I hope to see you again very soon!

Greetings and hugs from me and Luna "

Sunday 5 January 2020 we received a visit from horse lover Michelle and her friend Vincent from Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel. Michelle wrote the following piece, including a photo impression:

"The day I finally got to know those lovely people and Clydesdales! Once in Nieuwdorp we were warmly welcomed by Ingrid and David!

Over tea, she shared her love for the Clydesdales with a smile from ear to ear! And there were seven beautiful horses! Everyone is equally cheerful and equally sweet! For the first time I rode two clydesdales ONE DREAM! Then the SECOND DREAM was fulfilled: snuggling and cuddling with my favorite foal!

Every clydesdale really has something unique!

And I discovered that!

1000 x thanks dear ones for this loving and valuable day!"

Recently we met horse lovers Paula and her daughter Senna, who occasionally come to help us with our Clydesdales. Paula wrote the following piece:

"What a warm personality; from Ingrid and David as well as the beautiful horses. Our daughter Senna, who is over 9 years old, has been riding a horse/pony at a riding school in the area for several years now. This is really her passion! But for an introverted, highly sensitive girl that feels so comfortable between the horses, we as parents see that 1x a week is actually too little. After asking around a lot in the area whether she can help someone as stable help, we always get the same answer, "too young". but of course we understand this. Nevertheless, we are confident that something will come our way.And this would be very nice for the well-being of our daughter. Without any expectations, I place a call on a regional website where questions and offer is presented. And after almost two weeks of patience we get an unexpected response. A message from Ingrid and David van Coudorp Clydesdales. With an invitation: If we haven't found anything for our daughter yet, we can certainly come and have a look whether it could be something. Full of this surprise, we already set off to Nieuwdorp during the weekend. On arrival we are somewhat tense for what awaits us. We are not very familiar with the breed.

We are warmly welcomed by Ingrid and David. We introduce ourselves briefly and try to explain why Senna enjoys dealing with animals and then her personal preference for horses. We experience a good click and above all mutual understanding. What nice and warm people! It is a lovely day and all the horses are walking outside, we are taken along and are allowed into the meadow where the horses are grazing. What a beautiful spot and what a peace comes over us. The horses come to greet and sniff us one by one. One more curious than the other. While I am always very on my guard, I feel that I can let go of that here. We get the necessary information about these beautiful animals and chat some more. In the end we are now many weeks further and we have already been able to spend some wonderful afternoons with Ingrid and the horses. Since we were mainly looking for an address for Senna, it even feels wonderful for me to be able to help and chat with Ingrid, Senna and these special horses. I experience that, despite the effort, it calms me down. Senna enjoys it immensely, although she always takes a long time to come out of her shell and has a wait-and-see attitude, I see here that she is slowly coming out of her shell. How wonderful to be able to experience this thanks to Ingrid, David and the horses. I am therefore convinced that the warm personality of these people and the breed of the horses makes an enormous contribution to this.

We are very grateful to them for being so welcome at Coudorp Clydesdales.

Kind regards, Senna and Paula."

The photos below speak for themselves:

On Saturday 25 May 2019 we went with Iona and Islay to the first edition of the Veterinary Medicine Outdoor Event (DOE) to promote the Clydesdale breed. This event is the successor to the Day of the Harnessed Horse (DAP). Mariëlle Bierbooms-Weststrate wrote the following about this:

"Yesterday morning I went to Utrecht, together with Merel and Ingrid and David van Coudorp, Clydesdales. An outdoor event was organized there by veterinary students. After Ingrid and I had spent Friday washing these beauties (with betadine shampoo, green soap and badedas), I I went to bed in the evening with a sore back and withered hands and feet, exhausted. Saturday morning the alarm went off early and we left. A long ride with 2 of those huge horses in the trailer! We had a booth on the property and 2 places next to it for the horses. At 12 o'clock we joined the breed parade with the Clydesdales. These horses are very well-behaved.While waiting, it amazes me that people with their small children, in their flip-flops stand between those horses 😕 Also during the performance, Islay and Iona were very good and they were photographed many times! After that they were allowed to graze and cuddle with all the visitors for a whole afternoon! fall in demo about rescue of large animals by fire brigade, etc.
Their horse was too nervous and Coudorp Islay of just 3 years old took over this role gloriously 😍 It was a wonderful day!!! After I said goodbye to Enousca last year, which didn't sit well with me, I can lose my love for horses here in Nieuwdorp between these sweet powerful horses, and take care of it, slowly enjoy it again!"

On Saturday, February 2, 2019, Mirjam and Chiel from Zeeuws-Vlaanderen came to admire the clydesdale. Miriam wrote about this:

"Today we were allowed to get acquainted with this beautiful horse breed, which had been a wish of mine for a long time. Despite the bad weather, we were warmly welcomed by Ingrid. Afterwards we got to know the horses personally, each animal a very sweet and affectionate character.

While enjoying a cup of coffee, there was plenty of room for all kinds of questions and Ingrid shared a lot of her experience with us. They are amazing animals and I can't wait to get to know them better. I want to say a big thank you to Ingrid  for this afternoon and I look forward to the next visit. See you soon!

Regards, Mirjam and Chiel"

On Sunday 30 December 2018 we were visited by Arenda and her daughter Caitlin from Arnemuiden. That they are also enthusiastic about Clydesdales is apparent from the nice piece that Arenda wrote:

"The last Sunday of December. The penultimate day of 2018. What should you do on such a day? Usually it is a day of hanging and strangling for me, but this year it was different. my daughter. Through that same daughter, I came into contact with horses very often, she herself has a large-sized Irish Cob, with a wonderful character.  And that one is certainly my big favorite, but so unique in its kind that it really isn't "But besides this love, there is another great love, a great admiration, for such a monumental breed, whose breed characteristics also appeal to me so much. A primordial race, a primordial horse, the Clydesdale. Every time I Seeing the pictures of these beautiful horses, I become silent They seem so expressive, so approachable Even to me, who once seemed to have quite a fear of horses. Okay, back to that Sunday. Back to my daughter. She turned out to have looked around, looking for someone who would be a Clydesdale z ou, or a stable where they had these animals roaming. And improbable, but true, a fifteen minute drive from our hometown turned out to be a stable where they could have 6! Clydesdales had been walking around. She approached the owners and immediately agreed that we could come and have a look. Ingrid (so it turned out that the owner was called) sounded very enthusiastic and didn't beat around the bush. So the next Sunday we were a little awkward in the yard. The bell made more noise than I was prepared for, and I startled myself. The doors to the stables were open and I saw a very nice specimen there already. But then again, I never want to intrude like that, so I waited neatly for Ingrid, who arrived quickly. There we became acquainted with David and therefore with Ingrid, but especially with Islay, who turned out to be only two. For such a young horse she was so very calm and soothing. She nibbled at the hay and came curious to see what kind of strangers they were standing in front of the stable. We were allowed in the stable and although Islay is also quite large, it never occurred to me to get anxious. It just felt good and safe. After this we went to see the other Clydesdales. To the stallion Barra, who I can only say is much, much more beautiful in real life than in the photos. What a beautiful animal, and again… so calm, so curious and so friendly. Then into the meadow with Kelly and Blossom. Well, what can I say about that. Two beautiful elderly ladies. As Blossom climbed my daughter's neck, Kelly started sniffing me. And in a way that indicated that she really seemed to want to get to know me. And I think she did approve of me, at least she kept trudging along nicely after me. And what a nice and powerful couple, those two. Beautiful colors, beautiful character, beautiful size. In the meantime Ingrid informed us about the ups and downs of this breed. We were allowed to ask all the questions we wanted, but actually the horses already answered them. Finally, another icing on the cake. To the foal Lewis and his mother Iona. What a huge foal, 4 months! And how wonderfully free, he was just as curious as the rest and, as befits a youngster, demanded all the attention right away. And these two, too, radiated calm, even Lewis, as young as he is. It just all goes a little softer, just a little more controlled. They seem to have their large bodies under control so well that it is not scary to stand next to them. Of course you get a push every now and then, and yes, you notice that. But it doesn't hurt and you don't fall over or anything. You only take a step or 3 forwards or backwards. After these meetings, my daughter and I chatted with David and Ingrid, who actually radiated the same as their horses. Calm, humor and kindness. In short, it was a very successful afternoon with beautiful horses and nice people. And yes, my doubts are gone, one day a Clydesdale will join our family."

In the weekend of 20 October 2018 we had two visits from our clydesdale friends Maria and Patrick from Ooij. About this Maria wrote (this time in English) the following:

"Two years ago one of my childhood dreams came true ... I visited Ingrid & David from Coudorp Clydesdales to meet those friendly giants for the first time in my life. These beautiful creatures touched my heart and it may sound surreal, but I feel connected to them in a magical way - even before I met them. Now we've visited Ingrid & David again and we even couldn't resist to stop by twice in one weekend although we had only planned one visit. lovely, warm persons and their Clydesdales are too. A lot of people are afraid of them because they are tall, but in my eyes they are the most gentle horses there are. ... I really love them and who knows, maybe one day I'll be able to call one of them my loyal companion"

The pictures below are from Maria and Patrick!

On Saturday 26 May our horses Kelly and Blossom were allowed to go with Merel and Erica to the Kalootstrandje. Merel wrote about this:

"Hello, Merel here. I went to the beach with the horses. I have been dreaming for 4 years that I can gallop across the beach on a horse and today was the first step. It was super fun and exciting and Kelly (care horse) had I was also really looking forward to it. I felt that I had to relax well. We went through the water a lot and we thought it was really great! She had to get used to it but then she's fine, she was not afraid of anything. Another boy ran, then they were startled for a while, but they were immediately calm again and I didn't feel much fear in her body, it was more frightened I felt Kelly wanted to get out of the water quickly but then back in again We went for a little trot on the sand and then we went back and we both had a great time!

Regards, Merel & Kelly"

Recently we received a visit from the Van Batenburg family. They sent us the following piece (and 2 photos of Sir John):

"In 2017 we bought our Sir John of Loughan, a Clydesdale with a trauma, probably incurred during transport. We had a pleasant contact with Ingrid about the possible purchase of our Sir John as we call him. Although we did not know Ingrid there was trust and good advice from the first contact. We noticed from everything that Ingrid is so committed to this breed. Everyone advises us not to buy this animal, but Ingrid also saw opportunities for Sir John, partly because of his many experience, Partly because of this we also gave in to Sir John and because of his sweet and sad look he was also very emaciated and afraid but such a friendly look in his eyes .. It took a lot of time to regain his trust in people, step by step it is getting better with our Sir John, he comes back into the stable to eat, we can touch him, in terms of weight he has fully recovered and he is cheerful and happy again and that makes us happy again. Ingrid he We have had a super nice leather halter made for our Sir John, unfortunately we have not yet managed to get this halter on, but we keep trying step by step, we have time and patience so that it will work out again to walk and ride with our Gentlemen through our village."

On Saturday 21 October we were again visited by Jan Westerweel. Below is a report and some photos:

"It all took a long time for Mose, my granddaughter who is absolutely crazy about horses. Especially big horses like the Clydesdales. Finally the moment came and we went out to see Kelly again in particular. Kelly stood with Blossom and the new mare in the meadow. First greeted everything and given a carrot. Then Mose was allowed to take Kelly to the stable to go brushing. And without any form of fear she took the big variegated. Proud as a peacock, because Mose feels the " owner' of Kelly. Polished and cuddled in the stable. And of course also on it. Ingrid had a handy girth with a bracket to hold on to and so the faithful black and white Clydesdale stepped through the box with the little cutie on her back. She drove a number of laps with full confidence. Kelly is an incredibly reliable animal! After putting Kelly back into the meadow, we drove back after a nice drink. 3 bends later Mose in deep sleep behind in the car. Tired and satisfied after an afternoon lugging one of those great gentle giants!.

Ingrid, thank you and see you soon!"

Gerda from Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel wanted to come back again and she did so on Sunday 3 September, this time together with her cousin Christel. It was another fun afternoon! On instagram Gerda wrote about her ride on Kelly:

"Clydesdale Kelly; first time in aaaaaages I sat bareback on a horse, and what a huge and ge horse she is!!! It was so different I cant discribe it, but it felt great as well. Thanks So much to #coudorpclydesdales"

On Saturday 29 July Erika and Dieter from Antwerp came to meet us with the Clydesdales. It was a surprise from Dieter for Erika's birthday. Below is her thank you e-mail and some photos:

"Dear Ingrid & David,

We would like to thank you again for the hospitality (reception with delicious coffee and Zeeland bolus!) and for giving us the opportunity to get to know the Clydesdale. It was absolutely amazing! My boyfriend was also very impressed and very positively surprised despite the fact that he has less ambition when it comes to horses 😊, but what is not can still come and that was a nice step in that direction. We are very impressed by the friendliness and tranquility that the horses radiate. Despite their size, they are incredibly approachable. The fact that they also seek contact themselves is really great. You feel accepted as a person. All four have conquered our hearts and that is exceptional. We are already curious about the expanded herd! Hopefully you have been in touch in the meantime and are they on their way? It was great that the horses could be used both in harness and under saddle, so Dieter was able to enjoy the ride with the carriage. When you told us that you also do groundwork with them, we couldn't believe our luck anymore. I'm also curious how they are under saddle. We would love to get to know the breed better, so we hope to keep in touch and welcome again in the future. By the way, we paid a visit to Veere and that was indeed worth it! The Italian was - as you suspected - full, but we found a nice address. In the end we talked about nothing more than the horses. Back in Antwerp in the evening we also watched movies (including Talpe Stables) and looked up information. In short, it was an unforgettable (birthday) day."

On Saturday July 8, Gerda from Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel was our guest to get acquainted with the Clydesdale. Below is her report and an action photo:

"Yesterday I was a guest of yours to get to know the beautiful breed called Clydesdale. I was going to come with my niece but unfortunately she had overlooked that she had to work. Unfortunately...not really now I can come back again! I had a great time! I was warmly welcomed by Ingrid and the horses. Later David joined in. Nice cup of coffee with what else, a delicious Zeeland bun and then Blossom was rigged. What a leather, that will take the necessary cleaning hours! Blossom itself we cleaned together, what a hooves have that Clydesdales say, you must not accidentally get them on your toes. made a trip with the cart, how nice is that, never thought that it is as nice as from the back of a horse. Blossom was neatly and relaxed led through the streets and through the forest. Once back home, Blossom was greeted with loud whinny welcomed again actually) and dried off she was put back with the others. Ingrid asked if I wanted to sit on one but I didn't have any riding gear with me, so next time I'll take this with me. But even without riding gear I just had such a good time, totally great. In two and a half weeks they will get new horses so nice to look forward to! The description of the breed is fully adhered to by the horses of Ingrid and David, beautiful horses, top character. Thank you for letting me enjoy this, see you soon!!

Kind regards Gerda"

On Sunday April 9th we had a visit from Shana, Lisa and Erin from Belgium. Their report and the photos speak for themselves!

"Our fantastic Clydesdale experience. After a long ride from the Belgian Kempen to the Dutch Zeeland, we became very enthusiastic when we saw these beautiful horses. We were received very warmly and were allowed to go into the paddock almost immediately to get acquainted. met 22 year old Kelly, 20 year old Blossom, 4.5 year old Aaron and 1 year old Ayla. After the introduction and cuddle session we were asked what we would like to do: a ride on one of the clydesdales or a carriage ride with Blossom. When the weather was beautiful, we opted for a carriage ride. We certainly did not regret it and we think Blossom enjoyed it very much, because she was very enthusiastic and responded super to the aids. We were offered a cup of coffee or tea with a cake and enjoyed it under the watchful eye of the four horses. While we were told all kinds of information about buying and selling, im porting, running the show and the special 'layout' during the show. As a big closing, we had a photo session with the horses, during which we were also able to enjoy a moment from the back of these sweethearts. We are happy to share the photos of our fantastic clydesdale experience with everyone!"

On Saturday 28 January this year we were visited by Liane and Remko from Uithoorn. Below their experiences and a nice photo!

"In our search for the background of our horse George, we paid a visit to Ingrid and David van Coudorp Clydesdales. What a warm welcome, from both the horses, who immediately stood in a circle around us, and from Ingrid and David. that they had come into contact with Clydesdales through the purchase of their first horse about 20 years ago After studying photos, films and the enthusiastic stories, they also think that in our case we are dealing with a Clydesdales We took a short ride and had a wonderful day!

Since a few years we have been friends with horse friend and draftsman Jan Westerweel and his family. He recently wrote us the following piece. Below are also some pictures of Jan and his grandchildren and a beautiful drawing.

"As a draft horse enthusiast, I was curiously looking for Clydesdales a long time ago. The reason was that my granddaughter was completely captivated by the Budweiser commercials starring these 'gentle giants'. To my surprise, these giants 'were corner." With David and Ingrid in Nieuwdorp. After a long time, we finally made an appointment and went there with all four grandchildren. We were received in the most friendly way and we were allowed to meet these fantastic horses. The children were allowed on them sit (with or without me); were allowed to go for a walk outside and were very proud. The carrots were only too happy to be handed out as a reward. The great thing is that the horses are all very friendly, for small and large. also with Mose, my youngest granddaughter, I have been to the horses of Ingrid and David several times. Also to ride them. That is also a special experience. An animal of such size and weight, ri It is actually lighter than one would expect. The corridors are smooth, spacious and pleasant to sit out. When you close your eyes, you have more the idea of a big riding horse than a mega coldblood. I definitely want to point out that there is spice in it: Arran, the youngest of the bunch, was startled by a little something and made sure that I bit into the sand. Without malicious intent, by the way. I was a bit too nonchalant and gave the long rein. Yes, riding a Clydesdale requires alertness from the rider. But with that you have a very nice recreational horse, which you can ride wonderfully (and certainly hope to do so again). David and Ingrid do everything to please me and the grandchildren. They take great care of their horses. Everything looks clean and tip top. We love going there and enjoying their cordiality and the friendliness of these picturesque 'giants': the Coudorp Clydesdales."

I think she wants to live there. :D That was her best birthday present in her life and I can only thank you for that .Your hospitality and kindness is glorious.Im sending a few pictures of our great day.Thank you. Best regards

On November 4, 2016 we received a visit from Patrick and Maria from Ooij (Gld). Maria wrote the following about this:

"I've been waiting for this moment for sixteen years… finally meeting a Clydesdale in real life. Where exactly the love for these special horses started I wouldn't even dare to say with certainty anymore. What I do know, however, is that love has been love from the beginning. was very sincere and intense Despite never having met a Clydesdale in person I knew at the age of 15 that I would one day call one of these gentle giants my friend and ally In recent years horses have taken an increasingly important role in my life and also the need to turn my wish to see these horses in real life into reality. On my 31st birthday, after 16 years of waiting, the time had finally come.My husband surprised me with a visited Ingrid and David where I got to meet their four Clydesdales Kelly, Blossom, Arran and June Now that it was finally going to happen I had huge butterflies in my stomach and secretly wondered if Ingrid and David wouldn't think I was crazy n explain, because I was so in love with this breed in particular without ever having seen one in real life! But Ingrid and David welcomed us with open arms and it soon became clear that I could not have found better people to make my dream come true. The moment Ingrid opened the stable door I felt just like a small child standing under the Christmas tree with shining eyes. I had waited so long for this moment and now that it had finally arrived it almost felt a bit unreal: as the stable door opened, sunlight poured through a window on the four stunning horses looking curiously in our direction. My first impression was that despite their size, they have an incredibly accessible appearance and I immediately felt completely at ease with them - even when I was allowed to stand in the box with Arron and June and came very close to my dream horses. I would never have dared to do this so quickly with other large horses, but these Clydesdales have something that sets them apart from other horses: they radiate a calmness and peace that I have never experienced before and at the same time they are incredibly curious and alert. I don't think I need to say that they are very beautiful. And how comfortable they are – so warm and soft and safe! Ingrid told me that she and Kelly (her first Clydesdale mare) have such a strong bond that words are superfluous because they feel each other. And when you see them together, you know that this is the ultimate relationship between humans and animals. And you can tell that these horses want to be your friend. Not like some warmbloods who don't even look up when you walk past the pasture. No, Clydesdales are different… Clydesdales feel different… But to really find out their secret you have to experience it yourself. Perhaps with Ingrid and David, two very sweet special people whose door is always open for people like me who love these gentle giants. I feel sorry for people who think that they are clumsy, indifferent tubers that you can't do much with because these prejudices are not only unjustified, they also stand in the way of getting to know these extraordinary horses that you once inside your heart never let go!"
